Neetu Chandra gets shocked

Shooting for director Ameer’s next film with Jayam Ravi titled Aadhi Bhagavan, actress Neetu Chandra got the opportunity to visit Kulandra, a village near Jaisalmer. While she was impressed with the scenic beauty of the village, she was aghast when she found out about the plight of the womenfolk. She says, “We were shooting a song in Jaisalmer. Many children from the nearby village, who were close to the location, seemed to recognise me. When I was chatting with them, I found out that their mothers and sisters weren’t allowed to come out of the confines of the four walls. I understood that they could come out only during a specific time, and that too, only to perform their household duties. I was shocked, more so because we are celebrating the 100th year of Women’s Day!”
The actress immediately raised the issue with the elders in the village. “I told them how the country had developed in the past few years. Even I am from Bihar, a state that is considered backward! I’ll visit the village again to talk to the elders and campaign for the rights of the women there. In fact, I plan to rope in an NGO, with which I work, to help me in liberating the women in Kulandra.” Meanwhile, the actress is all praise for director Ameer. “My chemistry with him worked in the Kanni Ponnu… song in Yuddham Sei. Now, our professional actress-director relationship is going great too. He knows what he wants from an actor in terms of performance and doesn’t give up until he gets it,” she signs off, as she prepares to fly to Thailand soon for the next schedule.
